September always feels like a turning point.

Summer begins to loosen its grip, routines return, and there’s a renewed sense of energy around what’s ahead. At Collaboratory, that energy feels especially meaningful this year as we continue celebrating 50 years of bringing people together to make Southwest Florida stronger.

For five decades, Collaboratory has been more than a community foundation. We’ve been a gathering place for ideas, relationships, resources and people who believe that our biggest challenges are also our greatest opportunities to work differently.

And as proud as we are of where we’ve been, I find myself thinking much more about where we’re going.

Our region is growing and changing rapidly. The decisions we make today around education, housing, transportation, health and wellness, economic opportunity and quality of life will shape Southwest Florida for generations.

No single organization, funder, business, government agency or nonprofit can address these challenges alone. Real, lasting change requires all of us.

That’s why this next chapter of Collaboratory is about more than philanthropy. It’s about connection. It’s about using data to better understand our community, bringing diverse partners to the same table, listening to the people closest to the challenges, and turning shared knowledge into action.

As we celebrate 50 years, we’re also looking ahead to what’s next.

Because the future of Southwest Florida isn’t something happening around us.

It’s something we’re building.
