Access to information is critical to our mission of coordinating the solving of all of Southwest Florida’s major social problems on an eighteen-year deadline. We have applied this thinking to all of our communication and design practices and have invested in tools and technologies to make this website experience usable and accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities and those who use screen readers or other assistive technology/settings.
Our efforts are guided by the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
These considerations include:
- Alternative text for images
- Skip to Main Content links in navigation menu
- Semantic HTML headings and landmarks
- Color contrast ratio improvements
- Aria labels for additional context to screen readers
- Keyboard navigation
- Closed captioning for videos
We acknowledge that addressing accessibility is an ongoing endeavor, and we carefully consider any feedback we receive so that we can continue to refine our inclusive online experience.
